This will require a rebuild of Junction 11 that will likely cause great disruption during construction. See exert from supporting Highways Technical Note below.
Further mitigation measures have also been identified at Junction 11 which comprise an
additional lane on both M40 off-slip approaches to the roundabout and an extension of the second
lane on the A361 to accommodate the full length of queue predicted. The full package of
improvement works to be funded by the developer is summarised below:-
The signalisation of the A422 Hennef Way eastbound approach, partly proposed as part
of HS2.
The signalisation of the A361 and widening to provide two approach lanes.
Widening on the circulatory on the western side of the roundabout to provide an additional
circulatory lane.
Widening on the A422 Hennef Way east arm to allow the nearside left turn lane to be
extended by circa 50m, providing greater capacity on this arm.
Widening of the M40 northbound and southbound off slips to provide additional lanes and
greater capacity.
